Ingredients

  • semi-sweet chocolate with 8 ounces
  • unsalted butter with 1/2 cup
  • brown sugar with 1 cup packed
  • granulated sugar with 1/4 cup
  • large eggs with 2 each
  • vanilla extract with 1 teaspoon
  • all-purpose flour with 1/2 cup
  • salt with 1/4 teaspoon
  • chocolate chips with 1/2 cup (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x9 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the semi-sweet chocolate and unsalted butter together, stirring occasionally until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the brown sugar and granulated sugar. Pour in the melted chocolate-butter mixture, and mix well to combine.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt. Gradually fold the flour mixture into the wet mixture until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. If desired, fold in the chocolate chips for extra gooeyness.
  7. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the edges start to pull away from the pan and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  9. Let the brownies cool in the pan for at least 10 minutes before cutting them into squares. Serve warm or enjoy at room temperature.
