Baking Sheet Lasagna: A Family-Friendly Delight
Ingredients
- Lasagna noodles, 12 sheets
- Olive oil, 2 tablespoons
- Ground beef, 1 pound
- Onion, 1 medium, diced
- Garlic, 3 cloves, minced
- Marinara sauce, 4 cups
- Ricotta cheese, 15 ounces
- Egg, 1 large, beaten
- Mozzarella cheese, 3 cups, shredded
- Parmesan cheese, 1 cup, grated
- Italian seasoning, 1 tablespoon
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and ground beef to the skillet. Cook until the beef is browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in the marinara sauce and Italian seasoning. Simmer for 5-10 minutes until heated through. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, beaten egg, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix until smooth.
- Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of a large baking sheet (about 18x13 inches).
- Layer 4 sheets of lasagna noodles over the sauce, followed by half of the ricotta mixture, one-third of the mozzarella, and one-third of the meat sauce.
- Repeat the layers: noodles, remaining ricotta, another third of mozzarella, and half of the meat sauce.
- Top with the final 4 sheets of noodles, the remaining meat sauce, and the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
- Cover the baking sheet with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Allow the lasagna to cool for about 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
