Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped parsley
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves minced garlic

  • 1 package pre-made cheese ravioli
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 each diced onion
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 each dried oregano
  • freshly chopped basil, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 pound of ground beef, 1/2 cup of breadcrumbs, 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese, 1/4 cup of finely chopped parsley, 1 egg, 2 cloves of minced garlic, 1 each of salt, and 1 each of black pepper.
  3. Mix the meatball ingredients until well combined. Shape the mixture into 1-inch meatballs.
  4. Place the meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 15-20 minutes or until they are cooked through and browned.
  5. While the meatballs are baking, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pre-made cheese ravioli and cook according to the package instructions, usually about 3-4 minutes. Once cooked, drain the ravioli and set aside.
  6. In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add 1 each of diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  7. Stir in 1 can (28 ounces) of crushed tomatoes, 1 tablespoon of tomato paste, and 1 each of dried oregano. Let the sauce simmer for 10 minutes to thicken and develop flavors.
  8. Add the baked meatballs to the sauce and gently stir to coat them. Let them simmer together for 5 minutes.
  9. Serve the meatballs and sauce over the cooked ravioli. Garnish with freshly chopped basil and additional grated Parmesan cheese.
