  • 1 pound ground beef (80% lean)

  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 4 hamburger buns, sliced in half
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 large tomato, sliced
  • 1/2 cup pickle slices
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons mustard
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise

Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently to combine, being careful not to overwork the meat.
  3. Form the beef mixture into four equal patties, making a slight indentation in the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.
  4. Place the patties on the preheated grill. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side, or until browned.
  5. Flip the patties, and place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty. Continue grilling for another 3-4 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the patties reach your desired doneness (internal temperature of 160°F for medium).
  6. While the burgers are cooking, slice the burger buns in half and toast them lightly on the grill until golden.
  7. Assemble the cheeseburgers by placing the patties on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Add lettuce, tomato slices, pickles, and onion as desired.
  8. Spread condiments like ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise on the top half of the buns. Place the tops on the assembled burgers.
  9. Serve the cheeseburgers immediately with a side of fries or your choice of side.
