Ingredients

  • unsalted butter, softened to room temperature (1 cup)
  • granulated sugar (3/4 cup)
  • packed light brown sugar (3/4 cup)
  • large eggs (2 each)
  • pure vanilla extract (1 teaspoon)
  • all-purpose flour (2 1/4 cups)
  • baking soda (1 teaspoon)
  • salt (1/2 teaspoon)
  • semi-sweet chocolate chips (2 cups)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  3. Add in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  7. Using a tablespoon or cookie scoop, drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving space between each cookie.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the centers are still soft.
  9. Remove from the oven and allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
