Ingredients

  • 2 slices of sourdough bread
  • 2 tablespoons of Dijon mustard
  • 4 slices of aged cheddar cheese
  • 3 slices of honey-glazed ham
  • 1/4 cup of arugula
  • 1 tablespoon of finely chopped pickles
  • 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Spread 1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard on one side of each slice of sourdough bread.
  3. Layer 2 slices of aged cheddar cheese on top of the mustard on one slice of bread.
  4. Place 3 slices of honey-glazed ham on top of the cheddar cheese.
  5. Add 1/4 cup of arugula evenly over the ham.
  6. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of finely chopped pickles over the arugula.
  7. Layer 2 more slices of aged cheddar cheese on top of the pickles.
  8. Top with the second slice of bread, mustard side down.
  9. Spread 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter on the top slice of bread.
  10. Carefully place the sandwich in the skillet, buttered side down, and cook for 3-4 minutes until golden brown.
  11. While the first side is cooking, spread 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter on the second slice of bread.
  12. Once the first side is golden, flip the sandwich and cook for another 3-4 minutes on the other side until the cheese is melted and the bread is crispy.
  13. Remove the sandwich from the skillet, let it sit for 1 minute, then slice it in half and serve warm.
