Meat Loaf

Ingredients
- 1 pound of ground beef
- 1 cup of breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup of finely chopped onion
- 1/2 cup of milk
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons of ketchup, plus 1/4 cup for glaze
- 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
- 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 pound of ground beef, 1 cup of breadcrumbs, 1/2 cup of finely chopped onion, 1/2 cup of milk, 1 large egg, 2 tablespoons of ketchup, 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper.
- Mix the ingredients together until just combined. Do not overmix to prevent toughness.
- Transfer the meat mixture into a loaf pan, shaping it into a loaf shape.
- In a small bowl, mix together 1/4 cup of ketchup and 2 tablespoons of brown sugar. Brush this glaze over the top of the meatloaf.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
- Remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
- Serve with mashed potatoes and green beans for a traditional American meal.
