Ingredients
- 1 pound of ground beef
- 1 pound of ground pork
- 1/2 cup of finely chopped onion
- 2 cloves of minced garlic
- 1/4 cup of chopped fresh parsley
- 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon of dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
- 1/2 cup of breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- 1 can (28 ounces) of crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon of sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon of dried basil
- garnish with additional parsley
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine 1 pound of ground beef, 1 pound of ground pork, 1/2 cup of finely chopped onion, 2 cloves of minced garlic, 1/4 cup of chopped fresh parsley, 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese, 1 teaspoon of dried oregano, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper, and 1/2 cup of breadcrumbs. Mix the ingredients until well combined.
- Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter, and place them on a baking sheet.
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the meatballs in batches, searing them on all sides until browned, about 5 minutes. Remove them from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add 1 can (28 ounces) of crushed tomatoes, 1 teaspoon of sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of dried basil, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.
- Return the meatballs to the skillet with the sauce. Cover and let them simmer for 20 minutes to cook through.
- Serve the meatballs hot, garnished with additional parsley and sprinkled with extra Parmesan if desired.
