Ingredients

  • 1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 4 cups broccoli florets
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (low-sodium preferred)
  • 2 tablespoons sriracha sauce (adjust for spice preference)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the sliced flank steak, soy sauce, sriracha sauce, garlic, ginger, and cornstarch (if using). Let marinate for about 10 minutes.
  2. While the beef is marinating, bring a pot of water to a boil. Add the broccoli florets and blanch for 2-3 minutes until bright green and slightly tender. Drain and set aside.
  3. Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat and add the sesame oil.
  4. Once the oil is hot, add the marinated beef to the skillet in a single layer. Sear the beef for about 1-2 minutes without stirring to get a nice color, then stir-fry until browned and cooked through, about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Add the blanched broccoli to the skillet and stir to combine.
  6. Pour in the water and bring to a simmer. If using cornstarch, this is the time it will help thicken the sauce. Stir everything together until the sauce thickens slightly, about 1 minute.
  7. Remove from heat, garnish with sesame seeds, and serve immediately.
