Spicy Korean BBQ Meatballs
Ingredients
- 1 pound of ground beef
- 1/2 cup of breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon of fresh ginger, grated
- 1 tablespoon of sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon of gochugaru (Korean red pepper flakes)
- 1 tablespoon of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1/4 cup of gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 2 tablespoons of honey
- 1 tablespoon of rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon of sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, green onions, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, soy sauce, gochugaru, sugar, and salt. Mix until well combined.
- Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter, and place them onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until they are cooked through and golden brown.
- While the meatballs are baking, prepare the spicy BBQ sauce. In a small saucepan, combine the gochujang, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sauce is well combined and slightly thickened.
- Once the meatballs are cooked, remove them from the oven and drizzle the spicy BBQ sauce over the top, tossing to coat evenly.
- Serve the spicy Korean BBQ meatballs garnished with additional sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
